Tuning
I tune pianos with a state of the art electronic tuning device, and then double check each tuning by ear. In most cases, pianos should be tuned every 6 months in order to ensure that they stay in tune and are always a joy to play. However, if the piano is subjected to frequent fluctuations in temperature and humidity, more frequent tunings are required to keep it sounding its best.
Cleaning
While a cursory cleaning is included in every service call, every few years a piano will need a thorough cleaning. Take a peek inside your piano and if you see heavy dust, corrosion on the strings, or a whole family of dust bunnies taking up residence, then it is time for a professional cleaning. Your piano has thousands of delicate moving parts, and they cannot function properly when covered in dirt and debris.
Lubrication
With thousands of moving parts, the action of your piano cannot perform the way you expect it to without a periodic lubrication service. Andy can ensure that each part inside your piano that slides or rotates gets lubricated with specialized lubricants that won’t harm the delicate parts and won’t attract dust and dirt.
Regulation
Each key of your piano triggers dozens of moving parts that must work in concert with each other to provide a playing experience that brings you joy and the sound that you love. In order for your piano to continue to give you predictable performance, these parts must be regulated (adjusted) at least every few years, more often if the piano is used heavily.
Repairs
Clicks, buzzes, sticking keys, and broken strings are some of the most common issues that pianos face. I am well equipped to repair these minor troubles that you may be having with your piano. However, if major repairs are needed I may refer you to a more specialized piano technician.
